HR Generalist
Virginia Beach, VACentury Concrete is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented HR Generalist to join our team. This role will play a critical part in supporting the Human Resources department, with a primary focus on Learning & Development, Employee Engagement, HR Operations, and Compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for employee growth, training initiatives, and cultivating a positive and engaging workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Learning & Development:
Assist in developing and implementing training programs, including leadership development, technical training, and soft skills workshops.
Coordinate job-specific certifications to ensure employees meet industry standards.
Collaborate with the Safety Department to organize and track required safety training.
Develop training materials, presentations, and e-learning modules to enhance employee development.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through surveys, feedback, and performance metrics.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
Support recruitment efforts by assisting with job postings, resume screening, and interview coordination.
Manage new hire onboarding processes, ensuring proper documentation, orientation, and integration into company culture.
Employee Engagement & Retention:
Organize and support employee engagement initiatives, including company events, town halls, and internal communication efforts.
Conduct employee feedback surveys and focus groups to assess workplace satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
Assist in developing retention strategies to enhance employee morale and reduce turnover.
HR Operations & Compliance:
Maintain and update employee records, training logs, and compliance documentation.
Assist in performance management processes, including scheduling reviews, tracking employee progress, and providing support to managers.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws by staying informed of regulatory changes and assisting with policy updates.
Manage and monitor employee badging, including issuance, renewals, and replacements.
Support the administration of benefits programs, open enrollment processes, and employee inquiries regarding benefits and policies.
Provide guidance on HR policies and procedures, assisting employees and managers with workplace concerns.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably with a focus on Learning & Development, Employee Engagement, or HR Operations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Certifications: HR certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in HR software, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and facilitate training sessions.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Bilingual Skills: English/Spanish proficiency is a plus.
