Our Work
Slover Library
Norfolk, VA
The vision for Slover Library included constructing one of the most hi-tech libraries in the state of Virginia, while combining traditional and contemporary services in a multi-use facility that would also become a landmark in downtown Norfolk. The design required a 6,000 cubic yard, 138,000 square foot structural concrete-frame building. Every floor of the nine-story structure contained different design features. The foundation for the building’s elevator core walls sits almost 11 feet below sea level, therefore, dewatering the site was critical to the installation of our scope of work. As Slover Library sits in the heart of downtown Norfolk, material deliveries, concrete pours and various logistics required forward planning and perfect execution. Century's teams confronted these challenges to deliver a quality finished product consistent with the Owner's standards.
