Valley West Apartments

Richmond, VA

Century joined KBS to construct the Valley West Apartment Building in Shockoe Bottom, Richmond. The project comprised a host of foundations, cast in place shear walls, columns, elevator and stair shafts and more than 110,000 square feet of structural elevated slabs.

The 5-story, urban mid-rise features a rooftop pool and lounge, fitness room, interior courtyard and bocce ball court, pergolas, fire pit, conference facilities and bottom parking garage levels. The rooftop pool is built atop the adjacent building (Shockoe Center Apartments), which was integrated with helical pier foundations. The double podium slabs required a custom shoring design to accommodate a variety of multi-directional sloped areas, steps and drop panels.
